Professional Development

We can help support your organization’s professional development needs. We offer mentoring and guidance to curriculum designers, staff training, and delivery of presentations at workshops and professional conferences.

Curriculum Design Mentoring

We offer mentoring and guidance for all stages of the curriculum development process, helping your teachers or program staff develop skills in curriculum design. From idea inception, education standards alignment, and lesson plan development to pilot testing, revisions, and publication, we can offer mentorship along the way.

Staff Training

We often pair our curriculum development services with staff training sessions. We can plan and facilitate training sessions to bring your teaching staff up to speed with a new curriculum or education program. Our hands-on training sessions are custom-tailored to your group’s specific needs.

Spotlight on: STEM Global Teacher Workshop

We mentored professional staff from four global health organizations to develop lesson plans for secondary science teachers. These lessons were presented at the STEM Global Teacher Workshop in April 2019 and November 2019 at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Discovery Center. These global health professionals were provided with curriculum design templates, coached in NGSS alignment, and provided support throughout the design process–from idea to presentation. Partners included Washington Global Health Alliance, BMGF Discovery Center, PATH, Pacific Science Center, Fred Hutch, IHME, and the Northwest Association for Biomedical Research. These STEM Global lesson plans are available at this website.

WGHAA teachers and program staff worked together to align learning standards and their existing course curriculum with their ideas for new lesson plans focused on global health.

Spotlight on: WGHA Ambassadors Teachers

Twelve high school teachers were tasked with developing an interdisciplinary curriculum on global health and infectious diseases–but these teachers were novices at curriculum design. The Washington Global Health Alliance Ambassadors Program turned to Laughing Crow Curriculum for support. We provided mentorship services and training to help the teacher team cooperatively develop a 928 page curriculum. During week-long workshops and in-school meetings, we provided the support, guidance, and curriculum development tools needed to make the project a  success. The full curriculum is available from WGHA here.
