DEAD SEA SCROLLS FAMILY SCIENCE WORKSHOPS
Pacific Science Center, Discovery Place And Israel Antiquities Authority,
2006
Two exciting family science workshops allow adult-child pairs to discover the science behind the Dead Sea Scrolls. Life Long Ago and Today engages 5-7 year olds and their parents in bringing to life the stories of the Qumran community located near the site of the Dead Sea Scrolls' discovery. Piecing Together the Past engages 8-12 year olds and their parents in exploring the process that scholars and scientists used to reconstruct fragments of the Dead Sea Scrolls to try to understand their meaning. Ms. Bergsman developed the curriculum which accompanies the traveling Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit, showing at North Carolina’s Discovery Place, Seattle’s Pacific Science Center, Kansas City’s Union Station, the San Diego Natural History Museum, and future venues.
