Global Health Lesson Plans for Secondary STEM Teachers

We have been working with Washington Global Health Alliance’s STEM Global, an educational initiative to inspire and prepare the next generation of global health researchers, practitioners, and champions to support local global health organizations in developing science lessons to share with teachers at the recent STEM Global Teacher Workshop. Through coaching, we helped staff from PATH, IHME, Fred Hutch, and Pacific Science Center develop NGSS-aligned activities for science teachers.

These fantastic lessons are now available online for free from STEM Global:

STEM Global: Drone Drop Challenge lesson (PATH), an engineering design challenge that is a new take on the classic egg drop.

STEM Global: Diagnostic Detective unit (Fred Hutch) engages students in an ELISA simulation as part of a HIV case study.

STEM Global: Data Driven lesson (UW IHME) engages students in data sciences practices to analyze air quality data to inform action.

STEM Global: Vaccine Delivery lesson (Pacific Science Center), an engineering design challenge to grapple with vaccine delivery to remote areas.
