Operation Frog Pond (grant opportunity)

Here is a great environmental project that comes with grant funding! Tree Walkers International, a conservation organization focused on amphibians, invites Washington teachers and students to construct a frog pond on their school grounds. Read more below:

Operation Frog Pond (OFP) is a project that helps create high quality habitat for amphibians by encouraging the establishment of amphibian friendly ornamental ponds and wetlands. One of the major aspects of OFP is working with schools and teachers to construct frog ponds at their schools, which not only provides crucial habitat for local amphibian species, but also becomes an outdoor classroom where students can learn about the importance of nature, ecology, and conservation in up-close and tangible ways. In order to help teachers and classes fund and create these ponds, we are offering matching (1:1) cost share awards of up to $500 for teachers in the state of Washington. If you are interested in applying for one of these awards, an RFP can be downloaded and completed here.

The submission deadline is November 1, 2008. If you have any questions about the program or RFP process, please contact Ron Skylstad or visit here. The Tree Walkers International website is also a good source of news and information about amphibians.
